Primal Scream live in London 1987

by jamesendeacott

yesterday seems such a long time ago….1987 seems even further…i was in Loop at the time and we went on a short tour of the UK supporting Primal Scream – this was pre their debut album and even before Andrew Innes joined the band…i remember we had a blast and i’ve been friends with them all ever since.

i recently joined Facebook and today a video of Primal Screams last date on that tour turned up via Phil King who is now the bass player in The Jesus and Mary Chain – i think he was in The Servants back then but I may be wrong…

anyway this is the full gig – not the greatest quality but boy oh boy do the memories flood back…

may the sun shine bright for you

since writing the above my memory has started to work…a few things to add…Andrew Innes has reminded me that he was in the band – in fact it was his first tour…check out Andrews previous band The Revolving Paint Dream – a psychedelic delight to be sure. This show also saw the last appearance of leather gloved tambourine player Joogs. I also remember Bobby wore that shirt every night as he channelled the spirit of a 1966 Dylan…

I also recall that on the same tour we played a venue called The News in Leeds – I mention this as it was weird in the fact that the stage was above the bar – it was also the day we all met future Scream soldier Tim Tooher…and of course The Electric Cowboy was, and still is, Paul Harte.

as Bobby said to me last night after watching this for the first time ‘there was nothing like us back around then’ – he was right…

outsiders – soft violence – tears
